Define how authorized traffic, unexpected visitors, deliveries, exceptions, and manual decisions are handled.

Integrations & dependencies

Review intercoms, credential readers, video, detection devices, and any visitor or vehicle workflow system. Civil works, power, communications, and safety responsibilities must be allocated explicitly before installation.

Agree the handover before the work starts.

Questions before you start

How is a barrier different from an automated gate?

A barrier arm primarily manages vehicle flow through a lane. A sliding or swing gate also forms part of a physical boundary. The site may need either or both, with different safety and operating requirements.

Can a barrier connect to access control?

Yes, where the selected equipment supports the required interface. LFS confirms how authorization, vehicle detection, and operator overrides work together before defining the control sequence.

What information helps with an initial discussion?

The site location, lane layout, vehicle types, approximate busy-period traffic, existing equipment, and the problem you want to resolve are useful starting points.
